Step # 2 Power

“The Holy Spirit illuminates the minds of people, makes us yearn for God, and takes spiritual truth and makes it understandable to us.” - Billy Graham

“The Spirit is the first power we practically experience, but the last power we come to understand.” – Oswald Chambers

“The Christian’s life in all its aspects—intellectual and ethical, devotional and relational, upsurging in worship and outgoing in witness—is supernatural; only the Spirit can initiate and sustain it. So apart from him, not only will there be no lively believers and no lively congregations, there will be no believers and no congregations at all.” – J. I. Packer

John 16:12-15  (The Message Bible)
"But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won't draw attention to himself, but will make sense to you of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. He will honor me. He will take from me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is also mine. That is why I've said, 'He takes from me and delivers to you.'"

The Spirit of God --- Third part of the Trinity---is the means and vehicle used by God to empower us in this new life of recovery and relationship with Him.
The missing piece to our own ability to sustain any recovery at all is found in God. The Three in One comes to our aid. God, the Father....God, The Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This is the POWER we've been looking for. This is the POWER greater than ourselves that can free us from any and all forms of addiction. One thing that seems to get lost in all this "Power" talk, is the truth. Truth is POWER. Truth is POWER That can break the thought-life that is created because of our using. How many of you know that the battle in the mind is the hardest part of addiction. That raging war of words that flood your brain and seem to scream the loudest that you need to go out and use again.
Never mind that you're killing everyone and everything around you...use! Never mind that you want to quit...use! The dark so-called "truth" that draws us with empty promises is nothing more than lies from the devil and his kingdom of darkness.

When the battle for your soul is raging, God has not abandoned you and forgotten. In fact, at this point, you are having a Genesis moment. If you go back and read Genesis 1:2 you'll see that in the midst of the chaos, the emptiness and the darkness....the Holy Spirit of God was there. The Holy Spirit of God was there hovering, brooding, moving back and forth over the face of the deep. You see God has not, nor will He ever, abandon you. You may not have been aware of His presence, but He was there. You may not have heard His voice, but He was speaking to you. You may not have felt His love, but it covered you. He was wooing you to turn to Him. To open your heart and give Him access to your life so healing could begin.

You can own the biggest, finest mansion in the world.
IT can have light fixtures and lamps and all manner of illumination throughout every room. That house is wired for electricity to come and run appliances, computers, tv's, and a million other things. But if you never flip the main switch/breaker to the house, the electricity will never be used for what it was designed for. IT is the same for us. We have all these needs that we cannot take care of in our own power. We need to realize that God is asking us to open the main breaker (our heart) and allow His POWER , His Holy Spirit, to come into our "house" so that the lights can be turned on. What an incredible gift God has given us in the Holy Spirit.  If you would like more proof as to the ability of the Holy Spirit, then read the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Take note of the men who followed Jesus. See what a bunch of "goober's" they were. Always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Full themselves and their so-called positions with Christ (Jesus like me better than He does you...na-na-na-na-boo-boo!) When you finish reading those books, then turn to the book of Acts and see the difference. Now that same bunch of men are teaching and speaking in ways that are far removed from what we read about in the Gospels. What made the difference? The indwelling of God's Holy Spirit in each of those men. Now if He can do that for them.....Do you think He might be able to do that for me? I think so.

Step # 2
We came to believe in a POWER (God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit) who could restore us to sanity.

God on you...
