Sunday Rambling

Psalm 1
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly...
It's amazing to me how much "counsel" we take from sources other than God.
We rely on our own intuition....
Past experiences....
Suggestion of others...
Media...
Wikipedia.....
Facebook......
We look for direction and solution in every place except where truth of the absolute kind is available. That would be in God.
It's kind of funny when you actually think about this verse from Psalm. It gives you kudo's of the heavenly kind....favor from the God who created the entire universe.....for not doing something. We win the prize when we don't walk (or live....or move through out daily lives) based on the information we receive from others who may not follow God.
It reminds me of John Wimber's story about trying to buy a Bible while he was living in Los Vegas. John was a musician who played the clubs so he was always working the late night shifts. This particular story was when John was being stirred to pursue God, so he felt that he needed to buy a Bible. Trouble was, he didn't know where to go or what to ask for. Turning to the only source of information he knew, John asked the bartender at the casino he was working at. The bartender told him that he needed to ask for a "Holy Bible" and that it would have a black cover. Oh yeah...one final piece of information....just so you know if someone is trying to put something over on you.....The bartender told John to make sure he bought the King James Virgin of the scriptures.

Always be careful about who you let speak into your life.
This isn't to say that we don't need others who will help us and guide us, we do.
But we should be very careful and always check out what we are being told by scripture.
What does the Bible say....
Yeah...I know...this means you actually have to read the book.
You have to do a little more than read the "fun" parts....
But believe me....it will serve you well in the long run.
In fact, the more you study scripture, the more you will be able to hear God for yourself.
Well, that's my take this Sunday morning....
Vicki is in the kitchen preparing Shrimp/ Veggie/ Pasta for lunch, and the aroma is beginning to fill the house.
Good meal...
Rest....
Some reading...
Yes sir, it is going to be a good Sunday....
See you tomorrow, right here at the Greene Street Letters.

God on you...
