Finding Real Truth

Judges 2:10
When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the LORD, nor the work which He had done for Israel.

Troubling verse this morning.
How could you be a part of a nation that God had created....
A nation that God had delivered out of bondage...
A nation chosen by God to be His own....
And not know about Him.

Simple...
You refuse to listen.
You rebel against anything to do with God.
You become comfortable in what you think is freedom, and you deem yourself to a liberated person.
Liberated from the old ways...
The tired Scripture...
The ancient bondage of religion.

You rise up to the new heights of self awareness and choices that seem to fulfill your every desire.
You might never say the words, but the thought behind such belief and notion is that you become god. It truly is the lie that the serpent told Eve in the garden, in Genesis 3.
"God knows that when you eat the fruit, your eyes will be opened and you will become like God." Where does such a statement lead? To the thought that "If I am like God, then I won't need God."

So we reject the only source of truth to embrace our own desires and wants which are driven by our sin/nature.
Trouble is, with ever desire that seems to be fulfilled....

Another will rise up with an every greater need....
And another....
And another....
And if a person has no moral grounding in truth, then truth becomes whatever the desire says it is.

Truth becomes a means to an end.
Truth becomes a self driven mindset that rejects everyone and everything around it.
Ahhhhhh.....but wait....
Not everyone.
This twisted view of truth that stands outside of God's will, will be drawn to others who possess the same quality.
But such connections will only be a vehicle in which to use each other.

What I have written about this morning is a snap shot of what happens when someone introduces drugs or alcohol into the mix.
The individual is driven to a place where the need becomes the god, screaming out for a sacrifice to made in order to satisfy the need. The addiction does not care where the sacrifice is taken from....It doesn't care who gets hurt in the process. It only cries out for the temporary numbness that comes when it is received.

Sure there are factor's involved here, and wish not to boil down to some sort of religious solution to the problem. Brain chemistry is altered and changed through using....The body breaks down and organs begin to cease to function. Thinking is impaired and the ability to choose is taken away. But behind it all is the simple spiritual fact that a choice was made to enter into this darkness. A choice that rejects God's truth to embrace the false promise our enemy, the devil.

In John 8:32, we read the words of Jesus:
"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
The word "Know" is translated as an experience. You shall experience real truth and it shall make you....transform you....rearrange you...and such a rearrangement will free you from the old life.

SO how do we find such truth in an age of multiple, self-defined truth's?
Simple...
Truth is found in a person...

That person has a name...
And that name is Jesus.

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to God the Father except through Me."
Notice that Jesus never proclaims that He is "A" truth, or "A" way, or "A" Life. No! He says that He is "THE" way, "THE truth, and "THE" life. This very proclamation is still extended to everyone on planet earth. That is we turn to Him, He will take us out of our old ways and teach us a new way to live here in this world. Here's the kicker though....
This turning to Him for salvation is an offer that actually takes us beyond this life into a place that is beyond human comprehension. Eternity and heaven. I won't get into this today, but rest assured that it's not a bad deal.

I hope something in the posting this morning causes you to be encouraged.
I hope it will percolate in you today and that you find direction and comfort from it.

Until tomorrow....
God on you...
