Holy Spirit And The Animals

Romans 10:17
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Word of God (the Good News about Christ).

Had a really good time last night.....
Vicki and I, along with Robin, our daughter in law, and Ashley, our grand daughter, drove out to Gallant to see a live Nativity. A family who owned a farm was putting it on, and this was their first time to do so.

We arrived to hundreds of people.....
Lights, lights, and more lights......

Children scurrying here and there as people made their way to the barn where the nativity was going to take place.
There was a peace and joy in this place that was evident the moment you got out of your car.

This was a real-deal nativity.
Sheep....
Donkey....

A Camel.....
And the family dog moving in and out of the crowd looking for someone else to pet him as he moved from group to group.
Behind us, was a small fenced in pasture. As best I could tell, there were only two small calves there. They were running around, or in farmer-ease...they were frolicking as only small calves can do. Chasing each other from one end of the pasture to another.

Then something happened......
As the Nativity began, the man in charge told us he was going to read the Christmas Occurrence. He shared that he didn't like the term "Christmas Story" because it wasn't a story....it was an occurrence...it was an event.
As he began to read from Luke Chapter 2, I notice the two calves behind us.  They came to the fence where he was reading and stood perfectly still. They did not move....they did not make any sound. At the same time, the camel who had been moving around, stood still also, but he began to sway his head back and forth. This lasted the entire time the Scripture was being read. There wasn't any doubt in my mind that the Spirit of God was present, and yes......His presence affects animals also.  It was a moment that I'll never forget....

After the nativity scene was over we made our way to the front of the house where a booth was set up to give away free hot chocolate.... And around back, they had set up on the back porch for a bluegrass band to play Christmas carols....
It was a perfect evening....
Being with family....
Celebrating the entrance of God into our time and space through the birth of His Son, Jesus.

This was the first time this family had put on such an event, but I will tell you this. I hope they do it every year. If so, it will become the new Bynum family Christmas tradition.

Merry Christmas from the "B's" in Attalla....
God on you...
