Perception

This is a photo I took of the moon. Tell me..........is the moon rising or is it setting? Perception is everything. Perception can be steeped in wrongness as our own opinions do not always line up with the truth. Just because you perceive something and have an opinion, even a strong one, doesn't mean that you are right.
Many today, even believers, use their perception when reading the Word of God. They decided which parts are for them, or the parts they believe, and which are not. That is a dangerous game to play. Our perception of God and His word affects the way we approach him.
Take for instance the verse in Revelation 1:14. The last part of this verse reads, "His eyes like a flame of fire." When you read that verse what comes to your mind? How do you view this Jesus whose eyes are burning like a flame of fire? Do you perceive him as being angry, mad? Do you think of him as being one coming to bring punishment? Think on this.
What if the eyes of Jesus mentioned in this verse from Revelation looked like a fire in a fireplace on a cold winters night? What if his eyes were like a candle's flame, flickering and moving in the darkness. Do you see how our perception of God affects the way we think of Him. That is why believer's need to get into the Word of God to truly find out who He is. We, in this country, have lived too long under the assumption of "Knowing about God" is the same as "knowing of God." It's not. God has called us into relationship, one that is living and growing and changing every day. It isn't about a collection of facts and insights of who God is. It isn't about collecting data every Sunday when we go to church, it is about meeting and walking with Him, God, every day. About hearing Him and obeying what He tells us to do. This knowledge of God and His presence invades our very lives and affects every decision we have to make. I am so amused when people who are speaking out on the religious views of those who might either be in a political office or are running for one. "We need to keep our religious views to ourselves because that is a personal choice." Keep it to yourself? You can't if you are truly chasing and following this God. It isn't a hobby. It isn't something that you can pigeon hole for a later time. If you truly have relationship with God, then it is at the very core of your being. It is who you are and it is what you do.
How do you view God?
God on you........

For your information, the photo of the moon? It was setting. I took the picture before 5 a.m. last week.
