Tomorrow Night --"DOING THE STUFF:101"

John 14:12
"I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father."

Mighty bold statement from the Son of God...
We have no problem seeing Him do some pretty incredible things.
But when it comes to us....
Well, that's a horse of a different color.
We are fallen humanity...
We mess up a lot...
We get things wrong...
We miss what God is trying to tell us....
Yeah..
What's your point?

Bottom line is this...
Jesus has called us into relationship so that we can be the arms, legs, eyes, ears, voice and heart of the kingdom work here on planet earth.

There, I said it!
We have been called to "Do the works of Christ"...or, as John Wimber said, "To do the stuff"....

Here is the bottom line in this whole idea of doing the works of Christ...
The church has spent time and effort in coming up with methodology (how to)

When Christ has actually called us to a model that He himself left us to see and follow.
The model doesn't really involve steps..."If you do this, then be sure to follow it with this step"..as much as it relies on the relationship between us and God.

So what is "doing the Stuff"?

IT is best defined by Jesus in Matthew 11:4-5
Jesus told them,"Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen---the blind see, the lame walk, and the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life and the Good news is being preached to the poor."
Don't you find it strange that the very last thing mentioned on the list is preaching? Not to belittle it, or to push it aside, but all the other acts....healing and deliverance only validated what was being taught.

We have been called to enter into this type of relationship with Christ. To go and "Do the works...do the stuff" in a world that is slowly sliding over the edge. It isn't enough to quote a verse to someone who is trapped in the bondage of addiction. To tell them that they should "be warm and filled in Jesus name". We have got to learn to exercise the authority and power that Christ has given to us. To stand against the spirit of darkness that is having his way in the life of those who come to us looking for help.

Such is why I am starting a new meeting, tomorrow night (August 19) We will be taking a look at how we can enter into this arena of "Doing the Stuff". The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. at Gadsden Vineyard Church. Sorry, but we will not be able to offer childcare at this time. Make plans to join us.

God on you...
Michael B.
