You Did Good, God....

What an incredible day. Sunshine, blue skies, warm temps. I am so ready for it.
Tonight we'll be moving on in our teaching as we address the Twelve Steps.
Since we have now moved into March, we are currently teaching on Step # 3.

Step # 3 reads: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over the the care of God as we understood Him.

We have come to conclude in the journey to recovery that:
1.) We are powerless
2.) We need a Power greater than ourselves to restore us to sanity.
That Power has a name and that name is Jesus Christ.
Now here at Step #3 we are ready to surrender our will and our life over to the care of Jesus.
It is a huge step that some, I think, do not fully think out what it means.
We are under the leading of the Holy Spirit and He has lead us down through these steps and here we stand at the brink of new life.

It is kind of like what you read in Joshua Chapter One.
For forty years, the Israelites have been wandering around the desert and for that entire time all they have heard is "the promise land."
The promise land this, and the promise land that. Life will be better when we get to the promise land.
By the time you enter the book of Joshua, Israel is camped at the Jordan river and just across on the other side is.............you guessed it............the promise land.
They can see it, they can smell it, they can pick up a rock and throw and hit it. But until they make that final decision to move across it will always remain just a concept, just words.
They had to make the decision to move across and into before their new lives could actually begin.

It is the same in recovery.
You can work Steps one and two a gazillion times but until you're ready to commit to step three, you will always be stuck on the opposite shore from this new life God wants to give you.
Food for thought....
Don't put your tent down in places that will keep you from finding God.
Don't settle for just being near........make the move over into God's will and find out for yourself....

God on you.........
