New Month/ New Day

May 1st. A new day for the new month. May 1st has been recognized as a "workers" holiday over the years. My Dad worked at Republic Steel and on May 1st each year, the company would host a picnic for the workers. Lot's of food, games, music and prize give aways. Times have changed. No longer does someone go to work for a company expecting to retire from that company. That's not part of the American Dream. Our country has changed because the people have changed. It wasn't a quick, strategic move of management or of unions, but over the years people's moral and ethical view of life drifted with no anchor or truth to keep them in place. We replaced God with our own ability to decide what is wrong and what is right. What is right soon became whatever benefited "me" the most. It didn't matter that it was at someones expense.

I believe that God grants us tests and situations to reveal the "psyche" of the country. For what reason? So that we are without excuse when we bring judgment down on ourselves. To me, that is why it is so important that I share my story of what God has done for me and my family. The way He delivered us in our darkest times when divorce seemed to be the only option. How His faithfulness gave us plans and direction to get out of a financial mess that, to us, had no answer. I have seen almost 38 years of God's hand in our family. Don't talk to me of how God is dead or that He is merely a concept to give the broken and down trodden hope. I remember talking with one man and upon finding out that I was a follower of Jesus, made the comment, "I guess believing like that is o.k. but it just seems to me this Jesus is just a crutch for people who can't make it on their own." A crutch? You bet He is! When you're cripple, you need a crutch.

Verse of the Day:
Judges 2:10
After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the LORD or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel.
