Isaiah 57:15
For thus says the high an lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy. I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and humble spirit.
We often think that we only need a contrite spirit or brokenness at the time we repent and believe in the Lord. Maybe we need it when we fall into a sin and desire to be forgiven. It's like we pull out our humbleness, our brokenness and put it on so God will look on us with favor.
What if God wished that we would walk in such a manner? What if God's desire was for us to live in a state of contrition and humbleness constantly. What if this is the place of great blessing from God?
There will be times where we go through our day and don't sin, but nonetheless, we are required by Him (God) to be humble......constantly, because our flesh (sin nature) still exists and may be stirred up at any moment. We should not sin.......yet we should have a sorrow for sin. When we walk in such a place as this, the presence of God is felt in our spirit's.
Being humble helps us to confess instantly should we sin. It keeps us from hiding (or at least we think we are hiding it) sin from others, and too some degree, from ourselves.
SO what does it mean to be humble?
1.) Simply agreeing with God, who God says you are. Nothing more, nothing less.
2.) The ability to be in a crowd and simply be in a crowd. Not needing to stick out. It isn't all about me
3.) The ability to simply follow instructions.
The core of being humble is simply not thinking more of yourself and inflating your own self worth.
Think on these things today.
Perhaps even do a word study on the word humble.
God on you............
