Good Start For 2018

Hebrews 4:12
For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner  of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Monday....
First day of the new year...
Cold....

Really cold....
I made my way over to Elmo's for our Bible study. (For those who might not be familiar with "ELMO"...it is a transitional house for people trying to get their lives back on track).
I know that God is at work in the lives of the men who come to the study. I know that there are "good seeds" being planted with every study we have.

Blessed to have Hugh Robinson go with me for the studies.

Hugh has 40 years "clean time"...and coupled with all these years is a spirit of humility. Hugh simply wants to speak life to the men. Hugh wants them to know and understand that Jesus is the missing part of the recovery they have tried to bring about in their own strength and power.

Since these Bible studies at Elmo's are early morning, I try to take doughnuts with me. Mugs of coffee and a doughnut or two always makes the day start off better. So as the guys stumble in, the boxes are cracked open and doughnuts consumed. "Good morning's" and "How you doing?" are exchanged as each man finds a place to land.

Today's study was taken from Psalms 1:3---
"He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper."

Main thought?
Be where God wants to plant you.
Tree's don't get to pick where they are planted, but being planted near "rivers" (Plural...many sources of water) is the optimum place. Too many times, people in recovery make decisions that are based on emotion / feelings / and anxiousness. Such decisions usually end up sending the person into the ditch....in other words, not good.

As we ended the study, I asked them, "Where do you want to be this time next year? What kind of life do you want? How are you going to achieve this without Jesus?" We began to pray together.
Confession...
Repentance...

Forgiveness...
All bathed in faith that God heard and responded to the prayers of those who prayed from the heart and not just the mind.

A final "Amen!"
Five who were in the Bible study were saved....
Cool, or what?

More prayer over those who were in the room...
That we all come to the truth of who God is and what His desire is for each of us.

Pray for these 5 who made decisions...
Pray for those who did not, that the Holy Spirit would continue to convict their hearts, and show them the need they have for God.

God on you...
