Mark 15:28 - The people passing by shouted insults,
shaking their heads in mockery.
"Ha! Look at you now!" they yelled at Him..
It is so easy to live on this side of the cross and
reduce the events of the crucifixion Christ so that
it becomes nothing more than a story.
A fairy tale...
Dead man coming back to life...
Anytime we read the words, hear a sermon, or let our thoughts
dwell on the death and resurrection of Christ, and we hold
it as nothing more than a tale, we rob the cross
of the power to save.
We steal the majesty and the endurance of One who was
sent with a call and mission to die...ONCE AND FOR ALL,
for the sins of humanity.
I can't explain this action...
I can try to grasp the significance and the love that would move
I can try to grasp the significance and the love that would move
God to carry out such a plan, but my understanding pales in
the light of His truth.
The sad part is that I can probably more identify with those who
hurled the insults at Christ, than I care to admit.
What greater insult could there be than to live a life in darkness,
thumbing your nose at Christ and the salvation He offers to
all?
Those who were on the hill the day of Jesus' death thought
to themselves that this is the end of this man.
This good man...
This good teacher...
This good teacher...
This religious insurrectionist who stood against the Jewish Faith...
The world would be rid of Him once and for all time.
But this was not the end....
What looked like defeat...
What looked like humiliation...
Would not be held in death...
The Pharisees could not stop Him...
Death could not hold Him...
The grave could not keep Him...
Death could not hold Him...
The grave could not keep Him...
He is Jesus, the Christ!
Who is He to You?
Who is He to You?
