"And when they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left."
Luke 23:33
Never have fully understood why the Friday before Easter was called "Good Friday".
I know it is good in the sense that Sunday was coming.
The story didn't end with Jesus being taken down from the cross and laid in the tomb.
It may be Friday...
Jesus may be on the cross.....
But Sunday is coming.
As dark as Good Friday is since it points to the trial, beating and Crucifixion of Jesus....
Easter is a time of life and light.
A time of renewal and rededicating of ourselves to Christ.
We have come through the winter and have allowed the things of last year to die.
Attitudes...
Behaviors....
Mindsets.....
Sin.....
Now it is time to bring forth life.
New life in Christ.
A time to take stock of where we are in Christ.
Am I the person I should be?
Or have I fallen prey to complacency and apathy?
It is easy to slip into a life of "simply going through the motions."
Now is the time to wake up from such a place.
Now...today...is the time to return to a renewed commitment to Christ.
It may be Good Friday in your life....
But Sunday is coming....
Whatever is dead and in the tomb, so to speak...
Will be resurrected in this new commitment to the Kingdom of God.
Maybe it will be an increased hunger to study the Word of God.
It might be a stirring to take part in a mission trip.
It might be something as simple as preparing a meal to take to someone.
Telling your story of God's goodness to you.
God loving through you....
Don't live in a "Good Friday" mindset.
As dark as that day was when Jesus hung on the cross for the sin of the world....
Sunday was coming....
God on you...
