IT IS SO OFFENSIVE
I Corinthians 2:2
For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
I Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
I guess one could say that this "monument" is a bit offensive to those who have not experienced the saving power of the one who died on it.
I suppose we could all rise up and say, "Let's tear this down...it is offensive to us! It is a sign of Roman imperialism and an oppressive government."
We could get creative and tie the cross to Rome and Israel. A government that ruled the known world in cahoots with a religious system that oppressed the people of that day. How offensive this "monument" is to the human mind.
How offensive it is to the human heart is what really matters.
If you tie "Church" and "Denomination" to this monument, you've missed the point. It isn't about religion, or spiritual superiority, or any of the blind things a human mind still moving under the illusion of sin can come up with. It isn't about any man made movement.
You see, this monument rises above all human will and effort.
It is not bound by any government, save the Kingdom of God.
For God chose this monument to save mankind....
From the first drop of blood shed by Christ, to a triumphant exit from a borrowed tomb..the salvation mankind is in need of has been made available to all.
All?
Yes all!
Communist, socialist, democrat, republican, No matter what your governmental view is....
Occultist, voodoo, witch and warlock....The offer to salvation extends to all who would turn, confess, and recognize what took place on this monument, receiving the finished work of Christ as He has paid the sin-debt owed by humanity.
The only ones who cannot enter into true freedom and a relationship with Christ are the ones who reject His gift.
Jesus made an interesting statement before He went to the cross....
John 11:31-32
Now is the judgment of this world. Now the ruler of this world will be cast out, and I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw ALL peoples to Myself.
When Jesus said "all peoples" would be drawn to Him, He was very much aware that not all would receive this gift of eternal life. He knew that some would reject and continue to live in the darkness of sin, thinking that they knew the better way. How foolish, and yet how sad that at some point, we will give an account of our lives. Those who reject will hear the most horrible of words from Christ....."Depart from Me you who practice lawlessness."
Now you can believe what I have written....
You can check it out for yourself in Scripture...
You can call me whatever you want to...
But in the end, we'll see what the truth really is...
I guess my question to you would be, "Do you really want to find out?"
Like I said before, The Cross of Christ is Offensive to those who stand outside of the Salvation Jesus has offered to all humanity....
May you find Him this day.
God on you...
